February/March, 2024 Bulletin #193

As I write this, we are in the midst of another snowstorm, the second one this week.
Hopefully, everyone stayed safe and warm. Oh well, that’s January being January.
We have a lot of things planned for February and March, just look
at the calendars below. We will have a couple of prize nights and dances at the bar for

Valentine's and St Patrick’s Day and a dance in the ballroom.

A Blackstone Grill is being raffled off, with the winner being drawn on the
March 16th Prize Night. We have The Hot Fun Band, live in the ballroom on March
23rd. Also, we will again be having a Kid's Easter Party on March 30th. After that, we
will have an Adult Easter Egg Hunt. Eggs filled with jar tickets drink tickets,
candy, and maybe even some boozy candy. Just something to have fun. Keep up with

us on our website or Facebook.

Many other events are being talked about and we hope that our Membership will
help support these events. A lot of work goes into planning these events, along
with all of the volunteers working the events. You know, if you ever wanted to
help with an event, you should contact a Post Officer and they will be able to help
make that happen. We would be nowhere without our volunteers.
Don’t forget to thank our employees at the Post. Without them, our membership
would be lost. We have a great Kitchen and Bar staff. Pay them some special
attention on March 1st, Friday night for Employee Appreciation Day.
February 22nd is National Margarita Day, we will be having a Special Margarita
Drinks and nachos at the bar. Let’s have one for America’s most popular drink.

A NOTE FROM FINANCE OFFICER STEVE

December was a very good month financially. We don’t have all the
data in for January as of this writing, but typically, it is a slow month
with the snow removal and Post closings not helping. But then again, on
the bright side, we have not had a major equipment failure in December
or January. We want to thank everyone for their patronage and

support and once again thank our great staff.

The Post is also working on getting into a KENO and LOTTERY Kiosk. This
is just something else to make your evening enjoyable. Don’t forget to
support our ‘SLOT MACHINES’ while visiting the Post. Remember, it’s

the state of Maryland, nothing is ever fast.

As you have hopefully noticed, this edition of The Veteran is for 2
months. Hopefully, by the next edition, we will have an email account
set up to email the newsletter out, hopefully reaching more people and
generating more business for the Post. Sign up on the email list at the

door where the weekly and daily drawings are.

If you are having a birthday party, family reunion, or business
meeting/dinner, please feel free to contact Deb in the kitchen and get
it scheduled for our ballroom or Pavilion. We have competitive pricing
and excellent food. All foods must be purchased from the Post, other
than Wedding or birthday cakes. Bartenders are available.

Thankfully, baseball season is right around the corner. Stop in the Post
and see if the O’s can repeat their great season, and hopefully the
Nat’s can rebuild and make their way back into the playoffs. Opening
day for the O’s is March 28th at home vs. LA Angels at 3:05. National’s
first game is at Cincinnati Reds on March 28th at 4:10. Both games will

be on at the Post.

Please support our Auxiliary Unit as they are raffling off a Portable
Blackstone grill, Lottery tickets, Grill accessories, gift certificate for
some meat, picnic basket, and some booze to top off the party. Tickets
are available at the bar. 3 tickets for $5. The winner will be drawn at the

St Patrick’s Dance on March 16th at the bar.

Mattchu’s Thoughts:

 Remember, silence is sometimes the best answer.
 Be careful when you eat navy beans, it could end up with a

dishonorable discharge.

 Instead of a condom, I carry moist towels in my wallet. I
have a better chance of running into chicken wings than I do sex.
 I started out feeling BOLD. Then I lost my “B”.
 Why do psychics have to ask your name?
 If you think nobody cares, try missing a few payments.
 A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.
 Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don’t have any

film.

 If you’re wrong and shut up, you’re wise.
 If you’re right and shut up, you’re married.

 Dear life, I have a complete grasp of the fact that you are not

fair...so please quit teaching me that lesson.

 Kids in the back seat cause accidents. Accidents in the back seat

cause kids.
